OLYMPIC FLAME EBAY AUCTION
In response to the daft spectacle of the Olympic torch being paraded through the streets of Britain to drum up indifference towards the London 2012 games, I decided to sell a flame taken from this torch on the popular tat engine, eBay. I felt like this was an entirely appropriate way to celebrate the greed and nonsense of the games, which is essentially a glorified & intensely commercial throwing and running contest. A kind of Sports Day for adults, but with businessmen watching from the sidelines instead of parents.
VICE INTERVIEW
hi IM JUST WONDERING ON WHAT YOU GET IN THE BIN FLAME AND HAVE YOU PROOF OFF THIS ITEM BEEN LIT BY THE REAL TOURCH ? AND HOW ARE YOU TRANSPORTING IT FOR SUCH LOW COST ???
- jenny19-70
Hi Jenny,
The bin is supplied by the buyer and the fire must take place on their property. I will transport the flame personally to the bin fire although for smaller flames I can only offer collection or postage. Posting a flame is only undertaken at the buyers risk, I cannot be held responsible if it extinguishes in transit.
Thanks for your interest.
Hi , cant work out , what your selling ... how can you sell a flame ? ? and why is there Matches On floor if this bin were set a light by the Olympic Touch how are you going to keep alight then have it transported for £5.00 ? Look forward in hearing from you Jenny
- jenny19-70
Hi Jenny,
The bin pictured is just an example of what a bin fire might look like. The bin fires I am selling will be lit by the flame that was lit by the Olympic torch, not by matches. Rest assured, each flame sold comes with its own certificate of authenticity.
Hope this clears things up.
Thanks again for your interest.
Hello- How can you prove the flame was collected from the torch during the relay? They are very careful about NOT letting this happen- do you have pictures or a story with details that will explain how you got it?
Thanks
- johnnyreid2
The flame comes with a certificate of authenticity. I hope this clears up any confusion.
Many thanks for your interest in this item.
hi. your saying your going to travel anywhere to set some1 bin on fire for £5 postage fee i live miles away how you going to keep it going in your transport, will you turn back round if it goes out in your hands to re light it seems random who will let you send a candle in post to be honest ?
- jenny19-70
Hi Jenny,
I've spoken to the Post Office and they've assured me it is possible to send a small fire or lighted candle via the postal system as long as it is sent Next Day Delivery in appropriate packaging.
The cost of the large flame will adequately cover my expense in traveling to your house to set your bin on fire, if you so wish. I will transport it inside a miners lamp, thus reducing the chance of it being extinguished.
Hi think I'm missing the point here , why would you sell a flame small Med Large ? Any 1 with a Brain would go for the Small flame and light what ever they wish , I really haven't a clue what your selling still... your telling Me you a 3 septate flames small med large
and maybe more because your selling more than 10 off each
could you post a Pic off the real item or items You yourself had been Lit on the DAY ?
WHAT IM ASKING FOR IS PHOTOGRAPH PROOF OF THE ITEM YOU HAD LIT ON THE DAY OFF THE OLYMPIC TORCH SETTING FIRE TO SOMETHING YOU TOOK TO HAVE LIT... P Lease FOR GIVE ME FOR BEEN KEEN IN THIS FLAME BUT IT SEEMS STRANGE WHY ANY1 SELL A FLAME FOR HIGH COSTS £5. 00 - £1.OOO ( SORRY For BEEN a pAIN)
- jenny19-70
It's up to the buyer which flame size they purchase, I'm simply offering a choice.
I don't have any photos from when I took some flame from the Olympic torch as it was done quite secretively however there is a certificate of authenticity, so that should prove that it is genuine if anyone doubts its legitimacy.
Thanks
I don't understand how the large sized flame could be posted. That's a lot of money should the flame be extinguished. Is it collection only? Do I need a special bin?
- polepoletenteleni
The price of the large size flame includes personal delivery. I will travel with the flame in a miners lamp to your address and set fire to your bin.
where does the certificate of authenticity come from is it from the british olympic assotiation or printed from someones computer
- stuartandheidi
They are printed from a computer that has been authenticated to print certificates of authenticity with an official seal.
I hope this clears things up.
hi, you've got to be kidding...right?!?!? where do the certificates of authenticity come from? how on earth can a LIT CANDLE/FLAME be posted via the royal mail? what do you package it in? how can you be sure it will stay alight? and more importantly, have you sold any of these yet, and were they recieved by the buyer still burning?
kind regards, m
- mt21squirrel
Each certificate of authenticity is 100% genuine and comes with its own smaller certificate to prove so.
I have spoke with the post office and they assure me that a lit candle/flame can be posted if it is sent Next Day Delivery in appropriate packaging, clearly marked as "FRAGILE" and "ON FIRE". However to ensure satisfaction I do advise collection.
I hope this answers your questions.
Hi, could you tell me how the certificate of authenticity will be protected within the packaging when sent, also if I was unhappy with my purchase what is the procedure for returns?.
- gullrocktrader
The certificates of authenticity will be shielded from the flame by a protective layer of kindling. But I'm afraid returns are not accepted as there's no way to be sure you hadn't just copied the flame before sending it back. I hope this answers your queries.
Can I please ask how you can justify being such a pathetic and greedy piece of scum? You are exactly what is wrong with humanity. I feel ashamed to be on the same planet as you.
- carpathia666
I'd just like to point out that I am in no way officially connected with the London 2012 Olympic Games. If you would like to complain about the games themselves I suggest you contact your local MP. I hope that this clears up any confusion.
